With the advent of the 5G and 6G eras, the device paradigm is shifting toward connected cars, edge computing, and IoT, and at the same time, the importance of device security is receiving greater attention than ever before. Accordingly, IT companies, including Samsung, are maturing their security technologies through forums to identify and discuss security technology agendas.

Samsung Electronics announced on the 25th that it will hold the '6th Samsung Security Tech Forum (SSTF)' on August 23.

This year's Samsung Security Technology Forum, held online, is taking place under the theme "Keep All Your Experiences Safe." It is the second event of the year under the "Samsung Tech Forum," a global technology event of Samsung Research that has been integrated since last year, following the "Samsung 6G Forum" held last May.

Following a welcome address by President Seung Hyun-joon, Head of Samsung Research, Senior Vice President Hwang Yong-ho, Head of the Security & Privacy Team at Samsung Research, is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech at the event. The overseas invited lectures are scheduled to feature presentations by Professor Daniel Genkin from the Cyber Security and Privacy Research Institute at Georgia Institute of Technology, Professor Muthu Venkitasubramaniam from the Department of Computer Science at Georgetown University, and Manager Weidong Cui from Microsoft Research, followed by an invited lecture by Professor Jihoon Kang from the Department of Computer Science at KAIST as a domestic speaker.

In addition, this year's event is scheduled to feature a wider variety of content, including expanded technical sessions that introduce key research findings from Samsung Research in the security field as well as the business units' security activities aimed at protecting devices and users in real life.

The online hacking experience zone (Hacker's Playground), which has received a positive response every year, will also be available this year, offering a variety of content such as basic hacking practice and simulated hacking that anyone from beginners to advanced hackers can participate in, available 24 hours a day.

"I hope the Samsung Security Technology Forum becomes a venue for active technology exchange and cooperation."

Meanwhile, the Samsung Security Technology Forum is an event that Samsung Electronics has hosted annually since 2017 to expand the foundation of information security technology and foster talent. It was initiated to bring together global security experts and representatives from academia and industry to share the latest achievements in the field of security technology. Additionally, following the Samsung Security Technology Forum, the 'Samsung AI Forum' is scheduled to be held in early November.
