Dassault Systèmes, which is revolutionizing industry with 3DEXPERIENCE, and Yeongwol-gun, Gangwon-do, are developing 'Virtual Yeongwol,' a city tailored to attract companies.

On the 9th, Dassault Systèmes signed an MOU with Yeongwol County for the 'Virtual Twin-based Sustainable City Platform Creation Project.'

This agreement began with the aim of seeking new breakthroughs in the field of urban regeneration after Yeongwol-gun was selected as a new project site for the Urban Regeneration New Deal project promoted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in 2021.

Dassault Systèmes and Yeongwol County will strengthen their cooperation for sustainable development and urban development through active technological exchange and development in the future.

Dassault Systèmes is participating in the Bongrae Mountain Landmark Development Project, which is expected to invest over 40 billion won in 2023. The 'Bongnae Mountain Landmark Development Project' is a project to build an observation facility around the Byeolmaro Observatory located at the summit of Bongnae Mountain in Yeongwol-gun and a monorail connecting it to Donggang. To eliminate risk factors due to the topographical characteristics in advance, a pre-con technique based on virtual twins was introduced.

Yeongwol County plans to expand this into a smart city project over two years, starting in 2024, and promote regional development that combines digital innovation and intelligent infrastructure.

Furthermore, through this agreement, Yeongwol County plans to collaborate with Dassault Systèmes to provide a customized virtual city for businesses. By preemptively implementing corporate requirements into a virtual twin, Yeongwol County aims to present optimal conditions (location requirements, expedited permitting and approval processes, logistics and transportation conditions, and worker housing conditions). This will provide businesses with predictability and convenience, while Yeongwol County will increase its chances of attracting companies.

Already in late October, Yeongwol County Governor Choi Myeong-seo announced that he planned to begin construction on the Bongrae Mountain landmark project, which will change the paradigm of Yeongwol tourism, and emphasized that it will connect the entire Yeongwol-eup, revitalizing downtown tourism and the local economy. Through this project, Dassault Systèmes and Yeongwol County aim to enhance Yeongwol County's competitiveness as a cultural and sustainable city, improve the business environment, and contribute to the local economy and job creation.
