Intel announced on the 5th that it has appointed Justin Hotard as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Data Center and AI Group (DCAI), effective February 1.

Justin Hotard, Senior Vice President, joined Intel with over 20 years of experience leading innovation and growth in the computing and data center business, and is also a leader in enterprise AI systems.

Senior Vice President Hotard will report directly to CEO Pat Gelsinger as part of Intel's management team. He will also be responsible for Intel's data center product family, which spans enterprise and cloud environments, including the Intel Xeon processor family, graphics processing units (GPUs), and accelerators. It is set to play a central role in driving Intel's 'AI Everywhere' mission.

Prior to joining Intel, Senior Vice President Hotard served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of High Performance Computing, AI, and Labs at Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). At HPE, he was responsible for delivering AI capabilities to customers solving global challenges with data-intensive workloads. He also led Hewlett Packard Labs, the company's central application research group.

Prior to joining HPE in 2015, he served as President of NCR Small Business and held corporate development and operations positions at Symbol Technologies and Motorola Inc.

He took office as the successor to Sandra Rivera, who became the CEO of Intel’s independent company, Programmable Solutions Group, on January 1.

Meanwhile, Justin Hotard is reported to have earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a master's degree in business administration from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
