매출 감소세를 피하지 못한 퀄컴이 온디바이스 AI에서 해결책을 찾고 있다. 퀄컴은 메타의 라마 2 (Llama 2) 대형 언어 모델(LLM)을 클라우드에만 의존하지 않고 온디바이스에서 실행할 수 있도록 최적화할 예정이다.

[KES 2023] Qualcomm, “Optimizing AI Costs by Creating ‘Hybrid AI’”
Korea Electronics Exhibition (KES 2023), the nation's largest electronics and IT trade show hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, was held at COEX from the 24th (Tuesday) to the 27th (Friday). Qualcomm Vice President Kim Sang-pyo argued in his opening keynote that "hybrid AI is suitable for building cost-optimized systems in the generative AI era," and introduced the Hexagon processor, a dedicated generative AI engine, as a product to implement this.

On-device AI device shipments stabilize... No demand without killer apps
2024년 온디바이스 AI 기기 출하량 증가로 PC와 스마트폰 시장이 활력을 되찾을 것으로 전망된다. 이에 따라 스마트폰의 두뇌인 모바일AP 성능도 빠르게 향상되며 경쟁이 심화되고 있다. 그러나 출하량 증가가 본격적인 회복세로 보기는 어렵고, 온디바이스 AI의 이점을 증명할 수 있는 킬러 앱이 없다면 기존보다 가격 인상은 불가할 것으로 보인다.

인텔(Intel)이 AI는 PC 산업의 새로운 기회로 AI의 발전을 위해서는 디바이스가 우선적으로 많이 공급돼야 한다며, 내년까지 약 1억대의 디바이스를 공급할 수 있도록 제품 수급에 만전을 다하겠다고 밝혔다.
