The National Radio Research Institute announced on the 30th an administrative notice regarding a partial amendment to the "Electromagnetic Compatibility Standards." According to the announcement, it stated that it is amending parts of the Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) standards to harmonize the electromagnetic compatibility standards for wired electric vehicle chargers with international standards.

The purpose of this expanded application of standards is to establish electromagnetic compatibility (prevention of electromagnetic interference, electromagnetic immunity) standards applicable when performing conformity assessment certification for wired chargers for electric vehicles.

The main contents include the addition of wired electric vehicle chargers to the definitions of Class A and Class B devices, and the establishment of electromagnetic compatibility standards for wired electric vehicle chargers.

The regulatory provisions correspond to Articles 3 and 24 of the Electromagnetic Compatibility Standards, and the National Radio Research Institute is accepting written opinions on the amendments through a legislative notice until July 9.

The National Radio Research Institute explained the background of the initiative, stating, "International standards for wired electric vehicle chargers were established in 2018, and it is necessary to create new domestic standards to accept and comply with international standards," and added, "It is necessary to establish domestic electromagnetic compatibility standards based on international standards to revitalize exports and strengthen the competitiveness of related domestic industries."

The expected scale of electric vehicle manufacturers and wired charger manufacturers for electric vehicles is 20 manufacturers and 53 testing institutions, which are expected to be subject to regulation.
