Analog Devices Launches Wireless Sensor Development Kit for Rapid Deployment of Industrial Systems for Internet of Things (IoT) and Big Data Networks
– ADI introduces a development kit containing all the hardware and software elements necessary for designers to quickly develop stable wireless sensor networks.
November 14, 2014 – Analog Devices ( www.analog.com , NASDAQ: ADI), a global leader in high-performance semiconductors for signal processing applications, has launched a comprehensive development kit that enables industrial equipment manufacturers to easily add remote sensing and monitoring capabilities to Internet of Things (IoT) and big data products via scalable wireless networks. Using the wireless sensor development kit significantly reduces the time and effort required for designers from proof of concept to product launch. With this groundbreaking development kit, engineers can complete and operate a wireless sensor system in just 15 minutes to remotely report and analyze various sensor data, such as temperature, humidity, and motion/vibration.
Along with two multi-sensor node boards, the demo kit includes a base station connector and an emulator platform, and also provides a full-featured software package including a stable communication protocol stack and a colorful graphical user interface. The bill of materials (BOM) for the multi-sensor boards includes a multi-sensor device (including a 3-axis accelerometer (ADXL362)) boasting the industry's lowest power consumption, as well as an integrated RF transceiver and an ARM Cortex M3 microcontroller (ADuCRF101).
By using the base station connector and emulator platform included in the kit, users can directly access a local PC to manage network settings and review real-time sensor data. This software suite also includes ADI's easy-to-use ADRadioNet software and a scalable, low-power multi-hop wireless communication network protocol with a very small code footprint.
ADI plans to make additional announcements next month regarding third-party RF modules and extension software/cloud services for wireless sensor development kits.
