"Models will be built on top of AI infrastructure, and various services will expand on top of those models, creating a structure that creates social value."

SK Telecom Leader Kim Young-jin presented on the topic of “Hyper-Expansion AI Era: SK Telecom’s AI Infrastructure, Model, and Service Ecosystem Strategy” at the “2025 Artificial Intelligence Semiconductor Future Technology Conference” held at the Crystal Ballroom of the Lotte Hotel in Seoul on the 10th, suggesting the future direction of the domestic ICT industry in the AI era.

Kim Young-jin, the leader, said, “AI semiconductor performance improvements are driving AI model innovation, and now a virtuous cycle is being formed in which model innovation in turn leads to improved semiconductor performance.” He predicted, “AI technology advancements will not remain in the virtual space, but will expand into the physical industrial realm through connectivity, which is the strength of telecommunications companies.”

SK Telecom then divided its AI ecosystem strategy into three major axes: AI infrastructure, AI models, and AI services.He revealed that he was doing it.

The first axis, AI infrastructure, consists of four components: AI computing infrastructure, energy solutions, AI data center management, and liquid cooling solutions.

The AI computing infrastructure utilizes core semiconductor solutions such as GPUs, networking equipment, HBM memory from SK Hynix, SSD storage, and MPU from investment firm Rebellion.

Energy solutions support stable AI data center operation by securing various power sources, including LNG, small modular reactors (SMRs), hydrogen fuel, and renewable energy.

In data center management, an AI-based management system is introduced to predict power demand and ensure efficient operation.

Liquid cooling solutions are working with global companies to improve the efficiency of high-performance GPU cluster operations.

In particular, SK Telecom built the largest GPU cluster in Korea, 'Haein', and began providing GPU infrastructure services from August 2025.

This is the result of collaboration with global partners such as Supermicro and Penguin Solutions, and provides an AI development environment and GPU virtualization platform together.

The second axis is the AI model.

SK Telecom began developing a Korean-specific model in 2019, launched 'AX 1.0' in 2022, and has now introduced 'AX 4.0' with multimodal functions.

Kim Young-jin, the leader, said, “The AX model will expand into multiple domains and evolve into a foundation model,” and added, “We will secure global-level performance by closely linking with the AI semiconductor ecosystem.”

In fact, SK Telecom was selected as a national foundation model platform operator and will be responsible for infrastructure, model, and;We are preparing to contribute in all areas of data and services.

The third axis is AI services.

SK Telecom is focusing on creating social value through AI.

In relation to a safe society, we operate vision AI-based public security solutions, industrial site risk recognition systems, and 'Carevia', a developmental disability care support service.

In relation to a convenient society, we improve consultation efficiency through AI contact center (CC) solutions and also provide internal security management services for group companies.

In relation to a healthy society, we are leading medical innovation through pet disease analysis service 'Excalibur', medical AI introduced to over a thousand hospitals, and voice disease diagnosis solution.

Leader Kim Young-jin concluded his presentation by saying, “SK Telecom will establish itself as Korea’s leading AI ecosystem company, encompassing all areas of semiconductors, energy, data centers, models, and services.”
