Samsung Electronics has applied an advanced Bixby to its 2026 AI home appliances. Its capabilities have been expanded beyond simply recognizing voice commands to understand the user's everyday expressions and conversational context to control appliances and even provide lifestyle information.

Samsung Electronics announced that it has applied this feature to new 2026 Family Hub refrigerators, air conditioners, robot vacuums, water purifiers, and washing machine appliances equipped with a 7-inch screen. The core of this update is a function that identifies the user's speech intent and the flow of previous conversation based on a large-scale language model.

Accordingly, users do not need to explicitly state the name of the function. For example, if a user says they have put ingredients in the refrigerator, the storage mode is adjusted, and if a user requests ice, the appropriate ice-making function is executed. The air conditioner can switch to a cooling method that does not directly blow air, while the robot vacuum cleaner and washing machine can switch to cleaning or washing modes suitable for the situation.

Automation settings for controlling multiple devices can also now be configured via voice. For example, you can set conditions to have the robot vacuum cleaner operate when laundry is finished, or to run the air conditioner's dehumidification function on rainy days. It is a structure that handles not only individual product control but also inter-device connectivity via a voice interface.

Appliance management and troubleshooting guidance features have also been enhanced. If a user asks about how to reset, wash, or clean a product, the system provides a voice response, and for appliances with screens, it also offers relevant instructional videos. When asked about energy saving methods, it suggests SmartThings-based power-saving features and allows users to proceed to related settings.

Samsung Electronics is also newly supporting an 'Open Q&A' feature integrated with its generative AI service, Perflexity. Through this, users can ask AI appliances lifestyle questions that go beyond product usage, such as outing destinations, seasonal foods, and food storage methods. This revamp by Samsung Electronics is interpreted as an example demonstrating that AI appliances are expanding beyond tools for controlling individual devices to become lifestyle support platforms for the home.
