Kite AI has launched 'Kite Mainnet,' a blockchain infrastructure that supports autonomous payments and service integration by AI agents. Kite Mainnet is a payment infrastructure designed to enable AI agents to perform tasks such as payments, authority delegation, and service discovery without direct human intervention.Kite AI announced the launch of the Kite mainnet on April 30 and presented it as a payment layer for the agent economy. The company also released a related development environment to enable developers and agent builders to implement AI agent-based services.
AI agents are expanding beyond mere information-providing tools to perform tasks on behalf of users and interact with external services. In this process, there is a growing need for foundational technologies that enable agents to execute payments, manage delegated authority, and connect with various services.
The Kite mainnet was designed with high-frequency, small-value transactions and stablecoin-based payment processing in mind. Kite AI explained that it focused on establishing a payment structure that agents can use in actual service environments rather than securing short-term liquidity.
The structure consists of three main components. The settlement layer processes agent-led stablecoin transactions, while the 'Kite Agent Passport' manages agent identity, delegated authority, and governance functions. The agent interface and experience area provides features for agent registration, service exploration, and developer integration.
In particular, the Kite Agent Passport is a feature that enables agents to participate in the network not as simple wallet addresses, but as entities equipped with identities and authorization systems. Based on this, developers can register agents, set up authorization delegation structures, and create applications that integrate with external services.
The Kite mainnet is also pursuing integration with payment standards such as x402, Google AP2, and Stripe MPP. Kite AI provides quick start resources and development tools to help developers begin connecting wallets, acquiring test tokens, registering agents, and implementing payment functions.
