May 28, 2015 – Analog Devices (www.analog.com, NASDAQ: ADI), a global leader in high-performance semiconductors for signal processing applications, has launched the ADuM4135 isolated IGBT gate driver. The ADuM4135 improves the energy efficiency, reliability, and system control performance of electric motors in industrial motor control applications. Furthermore, utilizing ADI’s award-winning iCoupler® digital isolator technology, the ADuM4135 provides safety and reliability based on verified galvanic isolation characteristics in a single package, while achieving industry-leading performance by combining 100 kV/µs common-mode transient immunity (CMTI) with a propagation delay of 50 ns (typ).

Customers using the ADuM4135 can comply with IE3 and IE4 motor efficiency standards, which aligns with the industry trend toward higher frequency switching technologies for both motor control and grid inverters. Safety specifications include integrated Miller clamping and desaturation detection features.

System designers can minimize dead time between low-side and high-side switching thanks to the low propagation delay and low skew of the ADuM4135 gate driver, thereby lowering losses to the lowest level and improving overall system performance. Based on innovative CMTI performance and low latency, the ADuM4135 also supports new power switch technologies such as SiC and GaN. In this case, power switch technology is provided by utilizing high switching frequencies within the system along with enhanced transients. The ADuM4135 is supplied in a wide 16-lead SOIC package and provides 8mm creepage and clearance.
