The decisive role of Panasonic's ' automotive infotainment ' platform



NXP Semiconductors received the 'Best Partner Award' from Panasonic Corporation. Panasonic awarded the 'Best Partner' award to NXP, the first time it has been awarded to an overseas semiconductor supplier, in recognition of the contribution NXP's services and innovations have made to the development and growth of the automotive information business.

NXP’s SAF 360 Software Defined Radio (SDR) enabled Panasonic to introduce the world’s first infotainment platform supporting the full range of digital radio broadcasting standards. NXP’s multi-standard hardware platform allows customers to reduce the hassle of having to develop separate radio architectures to support different standards, such as Europe’s DAV, the U.S.’s HD Radio, Korea’s T-DMB, and India’s DRM.

NXP's solution combines dual-channel processing and the chip's own dual DAB front-end, memory, and source decoding capabilities into one, setting a new standard in the industry based on the highest level of integration as well as the lowest level of environmental impact. According to Panasonic, thanks to these characteristics, system costs were reduced by 66% and the development process was improved by 33%.
