Wind River announced, citing a report released by market research firm VDC Research, that it has been named a leader in the global real-time operating system (RTOS) and commercial embedded Linux markets this year. This information was announced through VDC Research’s report, “The Global Market for IoT and Embedded Operating Systems,” in which VDC covered RTOS and non-real-time operating systems, as well as other bundled products and services released to the market.

In this report, VDC explained that Wind River has maintained a long-standing lead in the RTOS market in terms of global sales of VxWorks and related products, and stated that, in addition, it has been evaluated as a leader for seven consecutive years in the commercial embedded Linux market, achieving the largest global sales through 'Wind River Linux'.
