Korea's Internet speed is the fastest in the world, but mobile web page loading time is below the global average

Our country has ranked first in the world for seven consecutive quarters in average internet speed and high-speed internet (speeds of 10 Mbps or higher) adoption rate. It has also solidified its position as an internet powerhouse by ranking first in the adoption rate of high-speed internet of 15 Mbps and 25 Mbps or higher, which enables transmission of ultra-high definition (UHD) video. On the other hand, mobile web page loading time was 1.5 times longer than PC web page loading time, showing lower mobile usability than the global average of 1.3 times.
According to the '2015 Q3 Internet Status Report' released by Akamai Korea (CEO Son Bu-han, www.akamai.co.kr), a global leader in content delivery network (CDN), Korea's average Internet speed was 20.5 Mbps, down 11% from the previous quarter and 19% from the same period last year, but ranking first in the world for seven consecutive quarters.
The Nordic countries made notable progress, with Sweden (17.4 Mbps) and Norway (16.4 Mbps) taking second and third place. The global average Internet speed in the third quarter of 2015 was 5.1 Mbps, a 14% increase from the same period last year.
Korea also maintained its top spot in terms of the adoption rate of high-speed Internet (over 10 Mbps), 15 Mbps, and 25 Mbps, recording 68%, 45%, and 24%, respectively. In terms of the adoption rate of broadband Internet (over 4 Mbps), it tied for first place with Bulgaria (96%), just like last quarter.
The 'Mobile Penalty' figure, which shows the ratio of PC web page loading time to mobile web page loading time, was 1.5 times in Korea in the third quarter, with mobile web page loading time (3.63 seconds) being slower than PC (2.47 seconds). The country with the highest mobile penalty was Myanmar, with 0.6 times, and the country with the lowest was Cambodia, with 2.6 times. The global average mobile penalty figure is 1.3 times.
The Akamai State of the Internet Report provides comprehensive information on Internet-related trends and security vulnerabilities, including attack traffic, Internet adoption, and mobile connectivity, using reports and information collected from Akamai's intelligent platform worldwide.

Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'

Ecolab Expands AI Data Center Cooling Business Through Acquisition of CoolIT
