AMD announced that it plans to release its 7th generation mobile A-series processors early for use in HP's new laptop products.

The 7th generation AMD A-series processors, named Bristol Ridge, feature enhanced video and graphics processing capabilities and security features to provide superior productivity and entertainment performance, as well as more excellent power efficiency.

OEM PC products equipped with 7th generation AMD A-series mobile processors are being developed in various forms, ranging from ultra-thin laptops and convertibles to all-in-one PCs, and starting with the HP ENVY x360, products from various OEM manufacturers are scheduled to be released in succession within the year. AMD plans to officially announce the 7th generation A-series APUs and unveil products from various OEM manufacturers at Computex 2016, which will be held in Taipei, Taiwan, from May 31 to June 4.

Kevin Frost, Vice President and General Manager of HP’s Consumer Systems division, stated, “We are pleased to be the first notebook manufacturer to launch a product equipped with a 7th generation AMD A-series APU,” adding, “We believe that through the enhanced entertainment performance and productivity provided by the HP Envy x360, we can widely introduce AMD’s computing and graphics technologies to consumers.”

AMD is currently supplying 7th Gen AMD A-Series quad- and dual-core processors to OEM customers. These processors feature Excavator x86 CPU cores optimized for mobile environments to support ultra-fast computing, and provide a smooth online gaming experience and enhanced HD streaming capabilities through AMD Radeon™ R7 and R5 graphics. In particular, the newly released 7th Gen AMD A-Series FX™ products offer up to 50% improved computing power compared to the previous generation FX products released two years ago.

The 7th generation AMD A-series APU provides the latest multimedia environment capable of supporting up to UHD-level 4K resolution video, and enables a smooth online gaming environment on laptops and all-in-one PCs based on AMD FreeSync™ technology.
