Microchip Technology (Korea Representative Han Byung-don) announced the launch of a 32-bit PIC32 microcontroller (MCU) family that has the lowest power consumption and the best cost-effectiveness among its products.

Microchip's PIC32MM family bridges the gap between the widely popular PIC24F XLP and PIC32MX families. As the first PIC32 products to integrate core-independent peripheral functions, this new family is designed to lighten the CPU workload, lower power consumption, and reduce system design costs. In addition, the PIC32MM family supports the Microchip MPLAB® Code Configurator (MCC), which can simplify and accelerate design work.

Today, embedded applications targeting the Internet of Things, consumer, industrial control, and motor control require MCUs that offer lower power consumption, higher cost efficiency, smaller form factors, and superior flexibility.



For applications requiring lower power consumption and longer battery life, the PIC32MM provides a sleep mode as low as 500nA.

In addition, a small 4mm x 4mm package option is provided for space-constrained applications. The PIC32MM device incorporates core-independent peripherals such as a Configurable Logic Cell (CLC) or Multiple-output Capture Compare PWM (MCCP) for sensorless BLDC motor control applications.

For rapid evaluation and development, a PIC32MM processor plug-in module (MA320020) is provided, which can be connected to the Explorer 16 development board (DM240001). The entire family of PIC32MM devices is supported by the Microchip MPLAB ecosystem, including the MPLAB X IDE and the XC32 compiler. The MPLAB Code Configurator is a plug-in for MPLAB X that facilitates peripheral setup, device configuration, and pin mapping.
