KT Hosts 'GiGA Colla Festival' for Drones and VR in Haeundae

KT announced on the 20th that it will hold the 'GiGA Collabo Festival' for three days from August 5 (Fri) to 7 (Sun) at Haeundae Beach in Busan, one of the best vacation spots, so that people can see, feel, and enjoy the fastest and most innovative GiGA services firsthand.
The 'GiGA Collabo Festival' is the biggest festival of this summer, filled with abundant entertainment including the 'GiGA Drone Racing World Masters' tournament, the first of its kind in Korea featuring drone racing champions and top-ranked players from 12 countries around the world, and the e-sports '2nd GiGA Legend Match,' where StarCraft legends Kang Min, Kim Taek-yong, Lee Young-ho, and Hong Jin-ho compete for the top spot, as well as a special match for 'Overwatch,' which holds the number one spot in PC bang market share, and GiGA VR and GiGA IoT health experience zones.
The 'GiGA Drone Racing World Masters' will be held for two days from Saturday, August 6 to Sunday, August 7 at a special drone racing arena set up on Haeundae Beach. This is Korea's first global drone racing competition, featuring champions from 12 countries around the world, including the UK, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Poland, Australia, China, Japan, and Taiwan.
Fifteen top-ranked players from Korea will participate as representatives, including Kim Min-chan and Son Young-rok of KT GiGA5, who have made a name for themselves in world competitions and domestic drone racing ranking competitions. A total of 32 world-class players are set to engage in a thrilling competition for a total prize pool of $25,000, including $15,000 for first place, raising expectations among fans.
On Saturday, the 6th, prior to the main drone racing competition, an event match will be held between the European Union team 'X-Blade' and the Korean representative team 'GiGA5', and individual freestyle competitions will also take place, which is expected to generate interest. On Sunday, the 7th, the main drone racing competition will begin with the Round of 32, followed by the Round of 16, Quarterfinals, and Finals.
The 'GiGA Collabo Festival' also features exciting e-sports matches utilizing KT's GiGA Internet. Following the '1st GiGA Legend Match,' which was held successfully at Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul last February and generated significant buzz, including topping real-time search rankings on portal sites, the '2nd GiGA Legend Match' will take place over two days, on the 5th (Fri) and 6th (Sat), at a special stage set up on Haeundae Beach. In the 2nd GiGA Legend Match, Kang Min, Kim Taek-yong, Lee Young-ho, and Hong Jin-ho—legends of Blizzard Entertainment's real-time strategy (RTS) game StarCraft—will face off in the same venue for the first time in history to determine the ultimate winner.
Also, on the 5th (Fri), the 'Overwatch Afreeca BJ League' featuring the game 'Overwatch,' which is gaining popularity with the number one market share in PC cafes nationwide, will be held as a special event, followed by special performances by famous BJs after the match ends.
The 'GiGA Collabo Festival' is held at Haeundae Beach, an open venue, so anyone can freely watch the event on-site. For customers who are unable to visit the site, the tournament is scheduled to be broadcast live on AfreecaTV and the portal site Daum.
Meanwhile, from the 5th to the 7th, when the festival is held, Haeundae Beach will feature a 'GiGA VR' experience zone where visitors can enjoy various VR content and games such as sports and music, as well as a 'GiGA IoT Health' experience zone where visitors can enjoy easy and realistic workouts at home, including golf putting and biking, allowing them to experience a variety of services featuring KT's future 5G technology.
