TI Launches Smallest Step-Down Power Solution
Published2017.02.16 14:21Texas Instruments has released a set of 12V, 10A, 4MHz step-down power modules, a power management solution.
The SWIFT TPSM84A21 and TPSM84A22 DC/DC modules integrate power MOSFETs, shielded inductors, input/output capacitors, and passive components into an ultra-small, low-profile footprint. The new modules provide less than 1% overshoot during transients without the need for additional special magnets or capacitors.
By using step-down power modules with TI's WEBENCH Power Designer, engineers can bring power supplies for space-constrained POL telecom, networking, test, and instrumentation to market more quickly.
The TPSM84A21 and TPSM84A22 can configure a 12V step-down power solution by adding a single external voltage setting resistor. The TPSM84A21 provides output ripple with a built-in 185μF output capacitance using a switching frequency of 4MHz. Therefore, regulation can be maintained without the addition of an external capacitor.
The TPSM84A21 and TPSM84A22 are the most recent additions to TI's DC/DC power module portfolio. This product family is characterized by integrating inductors, FETs, compensation, and other passive components into a single package, saving board space and simplifying prototyping, design, and production.
