LG Electronics is significantly expanding its smart home business by integrating Google's artificial intelligence services into smart appliances.

LG Electronics unveiled smart home appliances compatible with Google's AI speaker, "Google Home," at the "Google I/O" event held in California. "Google Home" is equipped with the AI service "Google Assistant."

During the demonstration that day, when "Talk to LG to start Air Purifier" was said to Google Home, the LG Signature Humidifying Air Purifier automatically started operating. Additionally, Google Home voiced the indoor air quality detected by the LG Signature Humidifying Air Purifier.

LG Electronics has decided to equip its home appliances, including the 'LG Signature Refrigerator,' 'LG Signature Washing Machine,' and 'LG Signature Humidifying Air Purifier,' with Google Home connectivity services. There are also plans to apply the service to other smart home appliances, such as air conditioners, ovens, dryers, and robot vacuums.

LG Electronics plans to sequentially launch smart home appliances compatible with Google Home in major markets, starting with the U.S. this month.
