Dell EMC, Easily Build a Hybrid Cloud
Published2017.05.25 16:51Dell EMC has unveiled a new cloud appliance for Microsoft's Azure Stack. Scheduled for release in the second half of this year, the 'Dell EMC Cloud for Azure Stack' is a hybrid cloud platform that enables the implementation of an environment identical to Microsoft's public cloud, Azure, on-premises, based on Dell EMC's advanced technology and support services.
Dell EMC ranked first with a 17.6% market share in last year's IDC Worldwide Quarterly Cloud IT Infrastructure Tracker. The newly announced 'Azure Stack Cloud Appliance' integrates Dell EMC's leadership and technological capabilities to provide a 'turnkey' solution that enables the easy and rapid deployment of a MS Azure Stack-based hybrid cloud.
The Azure Stack Cloud Appliance is based on Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI), which includes Dell's PowerEdge servers. Since all components are shipped pre-configured and tested, it reduces the time and complexity required to deploy various hardware, such as servers and network devices, individually. In addition, by applying EMC's existing world-class backup and encryption technologies, consistent data protection and security levels can be maintained in both public cloud and on-premises environments.
The newly announced platform encompasses both IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) and PaaS (Platform as a Service). In particular, it provides a consistent user experience across public cloud and on-premises environments by allowing cloud-native applications already running on Azure to be used directly in on-premises settings without the need for separate migration. Furthermore, by integrating with Pivotal Cloud Foundry, applications can be developed more quickly and efficiently within the Azure environment.
Dell EMC launched the industry's first Microsoft-based hybrid cloud solution in 2015, and with the release of this Azure Stack appliance, it has secured an even more powerful infrastructure and service platform. Currently, Dell EMC is targeting the cloud market by building an extensive ecosystem that encompasses not only its subsidiaries VMware, Pivotal, and Virtustream, but also AWS, IBM SoftLayer, and Google Cloud Platform.
Dell EMC has also strengthened its service support for hybrid cloud deployment. Dell EMC provides optimal solutions tailored to each company's business needs at every stage of cloud strategy, from planning to deployment and operation. It enables the development and optimization of service catalogs, as well as the extension of IAM (Identity and Access Management) and monitoring and measurement systems to Azure Stack.
Meanwhile, according to a recent IDC study (The Power of Hybrid Cloud), 79.7% of large global enterprises with more than 1,000 employees have an IT strategy for hybrid cloud. Hybrid cloud is becoming an essential strategy for global companies, with 51.4% of respondents already using public and private cloud infrastructure and 29.2% planning to adopt it next year.

VMware supports virtual desktop and application deployment on Azure
VMware has announced Horizon Cloud support for Microsoft's enterprise-grade cloud computing platform Azure. Horizon Cloud is a cloud service that enables flexible infrastructure selection for the deployment and management of virtual desktops and applications based on a single cloud control plane. Customers can choose from various deployment options according to VMware's cross-cloud strategy and flexibly modify their options in response to changes in use cases, employee mobility, and capital environment. Additionally, infrastructure can be managed on a DaaS (Desktop-as-a-service) based cloud that enables rapid scaling and cost predictability, and Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) appliances can be deployed in on-premises infrastructure to control and protect in-house virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environments.

Nutanix Expands Cloud Platform Software Support
뉴타닉스가 자사의 엔터프라이즈 클라우드 플랫폼(Enterprise Cloud Platform™) 소프트웨어 지원 범위를 HPE 프로라이언트(Hewlett Packard Enterprises® ProLiant®) 랙마운트 서버와 시스코 UCS B 시리즈(Cisco UCS® B-series) 블레이드 서버로 확장했다고 밝혔다. 뉴타닉스는 엔터프라이즈 클라우드 플랫폼 소프트웨어가 구동되는 하드웨어의 옵션이 추가됨에 따라 뉴타닉스 자체 어플라이언스와 델(Dell), 레노버(Lenovo)와 같은 글로벌 파트너들은 물론, 이미 수많은 기업 내부 및 클라우드 데이터센터에서 사용 중인 HPE 프로라이언트와 시스코 UCS 서버에도 뉴타닉스가 진입할 수 있을 것으로 예상된다. 현재 선두 x86 서버 업체 4개 중 3개의 플랫폼에서 뉴타닉스 소프트웨어를 사용할 수 있다. 뉴타닉스는 출하량 기준 전 세계 서버 시장의 52% 이상을 차지하고 있으며, 2016년 5백만 대 이상의 서버를 판매한 엔터프라이즈 서버 벤더에도 자사의 소프트웨어를 추가 지원할 것을 고려하고 있다.

SalePoint Signs Multi-Year Partnership Agreement with AWS… Promoting Identity Security that Integrates Even AI Agents
Sailpoint has entered into a multi-year strategic partnership agreement with AWS and is moving forward with establishing an integrated governance system that manages both human and non-human identities together. The plan is to consistently manage access permissions in an environment where AI agents are increasing as work execution entities, while applying the principle of least privilege and automated policy enforcement. The two companies plan to jointly expand capabilities to manage the identities of various entities, including AI agents, within a single layer in the AWS environment. This collaboration is interpreted as a move to design security and governance together in corporate environments where AI adoption is expanding.

Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
Databricks entered the security market on March 24 by unveiling LakeWatch, an open-source agentic SIEM. The core functionality of this product is to integrate and analyze security, IT, and business data in a single environment to support AI-based threat detection and investigation. The company explained that it reduces the limitations of existing security operations centers, which have had to forgo some data due to high cost structures, and enables large-scale data analysis and automation based on open formats and ecosystems. LakeWatch is currently offered as a private preview, with Adobe and Dropbox mentioned as early customers. Databricks also announced an expanded partnership with Anthropic as well as the acquisition of Antimatter and SiftD.ai.
