Embedded SW Technology Forum and Regular General Meeting Held, 'One Voice' for Expanded Support
Chairman Han Dong-won: "New leap forward needed as one of the foundation technologies for the Fourth Industrial Revolution"

The Embedded Software System Industry Association held an 'Embedded SW Technology Forum and Regular General Meeting' on the 8th at the Geranium Hall of Samjung Hotel in Seoul.

At the regular general meeting held with forum member companies in attendance, there was a special lecture prior to the event on the commercialization case of nanoQplus by Dr. Kim Seon-tae from the Korea Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute.

At the subsequent regular general meeting, Chairman Han Dong-won (Director of ETRI SW Contents Research Institute) stated in his opening remarks, "The Embedded SW Technology Forum, now in its 9th year, is addressing embedded SW, one of the foundation technologies for the Fourth Industrial Revolution that is currently a major issue," and added, "Embedded software is a technology that can encompass all issues such as IoT, cloud, and big data, and it is a time that requires a new leap forward."

In the subsequent results report, Moon Jeong-hyun, Executive Director of the Korea Information Industry Association, presented the status of the previous regular general meeting and steering committee meetings, regular technical seminars, and TTA standardization promotion results. Executive Director Moon announced, "The forum promoted TTA standardization last year, conducting 13 domestic standards and a total of 7 international standardization activities, and achieved results by applying a total of 10 standardization technologies including MDS Technology's multi-core RTOS kernel reference model."

A forum member who attended the regular general meeting pointed out, "The previous government did not show much willingness to develop embedded software. In such times, embedded industry professionals must continue to request support for the industry to advance. Domestic embedded software technology is a sufficiently competitive field, and government support should follow so that what we do well can be done even better."

The forum announced plans to hold subcommittee meetings (10 times) and mini seminars (6 times) this year, publish Embedded SW Technology Trends 2017, and make efforts in the formulation and revision of standards.
