KT DS partners with Ssangyong Information & Communications to launch sports IT business
Published2017.10.25 10:42KT DS, an IT service specialist of the KT Group, announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Ssangyong Information & Communications to cooperate on the construction and operation of IT systems for the '2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games'.
The memorandum of understanding includes an agreement to support the IT system construction and operation project for the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games currently being carried out by Ssangyong Information & Communications with KT DS’s cloud and infrastructure technologies, and furthermore, to jointly carry out the work of converting international sports solutions into SaaS (Software as a Service).
To this end, the two companies will form a dedicated task force and utilize cloud-based solutions to identify potential sales opportunities in the field of international sports IT services and to concretize business cooperation models.
Through collaboration with Ssangyong Information & Communications, KT DS plans to lead the development of the domestic IT industry by discovering new convergence services and businesses based on OBICs (Open Source, Big Data, Cloud, IoT, Information Security), the nation's top-tier software convergence foundational technologies, and expanding into the global market.
"I am confident that this will be a successful tournament through the combination of KT DS's five core technologies, including IT service technologies such as OBICs, and Ssangyong Information & Communication's sports solutions, professional personnel, and accumulated experience," said Kim Ki-chul, CEO of KT DS. "We will continue our efforts to enter and expand into the global IT market through this collaboration."

KT, ICT Solution Training in Bangladesh
KT announced that KT Group IT Supporters will provide IT education to local young entrepreneurs, teachers, and students on Moheshkhali Island, Bangladesh's Giga Island, from the 22nd to the 26th. Bangladesh's Giga Island was launched this April based on a partnership between KT, the Bangladesh ICT Government, and the International Organization for Migration, established in 2016. KT is providing ICT solutions based on giga infrastructure and supporting their utilization across various sectors including education, healthcare, and agriculture.

KT secures maritime LTE coverage up to 200km offshore and develops 'Marine Navigation'
KT announced on the 25th that it participated in the 'Marine Week 2017' exhibition held at BEXCO in Busan for 4 days starting on the 24th, and unveiled new solutions to minimize maritime safety accidents based on differentiated disaster safety technologies and expertise. The solutions unveiled by KT are based on expanded maritime LTE coverage: ▲Marine Navi, a vessel safety solution for preventing collision accidents of small ships, and ▲Skyship, a unified maritime surveillance device that combines the advantages of drones and airships. Marine Navi is an 'integrated collision avoidance solution' based on LTE and intelligent CCTV that displays maritime traffic information and maritime situation video on a single display. Basic navigation information such as location and speed of surrounding vessels collected by the Automatic Identification System (AIS) is fused and analyzed with GPS information by KT's 'Marine Navi Analysis Platform', and displays in real-time on an electronic chart the location of the vessel, distance to surrounding vessels within a 10km radius, and the possibility of collision.

Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
Databricks entered the security market on March 24 by unveiling LakeWatch, an open-source agentic SIEM. The core functionality of this product is to integrate and analyze security, IT, and business data in a single environment to support AI-based threat detection and investigation. The company explained that it reduces the limitations of existing security operations centers, which have had to forgo some data due to high cost structures, and enables large-scale data analysis and automation based on open formats and ecosystems. LakeWatch is currently offered as a private preview, with Adobe and Dropbox mentioned as early customers. Databricks also announced an expanded partnership with Anthropic as well as the acquisition of Antimatter and SiftD.ai.
