MediaTek Inc. unveiled the MediaTek Sensio(TM), a 6-in-1 smartphone biosensor module.

MediaTek Sensio is a powerful, advanced health monitoring solution that easily tracks heart rate information, blood pressure trends, peripheral oxygen saturation, and more. Available as an embedded smartphone module, MediaTek Sensio allows consumers to quickly check and monitor their health using their most popular device: their smartphone.

The MediaTek Sensio MT6381 is a comprehensive software and module solution specifically designed to provide valuable health data, comprising optical, electrical, and processing components. Its customizability and compact size give device manufacturers the flexibility to integrate the MediaTek Sensio module directly into any smartphone, rather than relying on multiple sensors. Furthermore, MediaTek Sensio allows for the development of proprietary applications or the use of third-party applications and developer add-ons.

This module uses a light-emitting diode (LED) along with a photosensitive sensor to measure red and infrared absorption by the user's finger. MediaTek Sensio establishes a closed loop between the heart and the biosensor by touching the device's sensor and electrodes with the fingertip, thereby measuring ECG and PPG waveforms.

Sensio measures heart rate, heart rate variability, blood pressure, peripheral oxygen saturation, electrocardiogram, and photoplethysmography in about 60 seconds. The MT6381 consists of an integrated R & IR LED for reflective PPG measurement + 1-channel ECG analog front end, a compact 6.8mm x 4.93mm x 1.2mm OLGA 22-pin package, total external BOM: 4 caps + 2 electrodes, and I2C / SPI digital interface.
