Experience winter sports and watch major Olympic events using ICT technology

KT announced that it has completed the construction of the 'Gwanghwamun KT Live Site,' where visitors in Seoul can experience the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics and the 'world's first 5G.' The Gwanghwamun KT Live Site will begin full-scale operations on the 9th, the opening day of the Olympics.

The Gwanghwamun KT Live Site is a complex cultural space where ordinary citizens and foreigners visiting Korea for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics can experience winter sports combined with 5G networks and ICT technologies, and watch major events of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics. The KT Live Site, constructed as a two-story container booth approximately 250 pyeong in size, is located in the central plaza in front of the statue of King Sejong the Great in Gwanghwamun.

Visitors to the KT Live Site in Gwanghwamun can experience 5G speeds through immersive services such as OmniView on 5G devices without having to go to Pyeongchang or Gangneung, and can also experience 'Time Slice,' which captures themselves playing ice hockey in a virtual space with multiple mobile cameras and receives multi-angle video via 5G.

In addition to this, at the Gwanghwamun KT Live Site, you can enjoy various programs such as the 'Bobsleigh Challenge,' which offers the experience of becoming a bobsleigh athlete through a virtual reality (VR) simulator, and 'Connected Speed,' which allows you to control a bobsleigh, drone, and car using motion recognition by utilizing ultra-low latency, one of the biggest characteristics of 5G.

In addition, on the second floor of the Gwanghwamun KT Live Site, there is a 'Media Facade Lounge' where visitors can watch major Olympic events via a media facade broadcast on the front of the KT Gwanghwamun WEST building starting at 5 PM, and the KT 5G PR Hall '5G Connected' located at the Gangneung Olympic Park. A 'VR Zone' has been prepared that connects the Gwanghwamun KT Live Site with the 'connected.)' via 5G, allowing visitors to view the Gangneung promotional hall in 360 degrees in real time, so visitors can feel the sense of being at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics even in Seoul.

Meanwhile, KT is holding a 'Stamp Tour Event' for visitors to the Gwanghwamun KT Live Site. Visitors who collect five or more stamps, provided each time they experience a program at the site, will be given an eco-bag or a PyeongChang Winter Olympics sport pin as a gift.

The Gwanghwamun KT Live Site will operate from the 9th until the 25th, when the PyeongChang Winter Olympics conclude, and is open for viewing every day from 11:30 a.m. to 20:30.
