Qualcomm, China Mobile, and ZTE jointly demonstrate 5G NR based on 3GPP Release 15
ZTE, a mobile internet telecommunications company, showcased new terminal products, 5G commercialization, 5G connectivity, cloud, and IoT application services at the Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona.
ZTE, which has devoted significant effort to the early commercialization of 5G, began various 5G field tests in early 2017 and subsequently launched various Pre-5G solutions for high and low frequency bands.
Currently, ZTE plans to implement viable Pre-5G solutions by the end of 2018 and add them to its 5G product network infrastructure in the first half of 2019.![]()
At MWC 2018, ZTE introduced its 5G field test network, 3GPP standard-based multi-vendor IoDT testing, and carrier-grade comprehensive 5G commercial network slicing, and described how it collaborates with partners.
Qualcomm, China Mobile, and ZTE are jointly planning to demonstrate a 5G New Radio (NR) Interoperability Data Testing (IoDT) system (3.5 GHz) based on 3GPP Release 15. Successful 5G data connectivity is a critical factor for large-scale high-speed certification of 5G NR technology and commercialization, and supports the successful installation of 5G commercial networks.
ZTE will also showcase the latest Pre-5G products that incorporate commercialization elements, as well as hybrid networking solutions and products that help carriers rapidly integrate and install 5G solutions into their existing 4G network infrastructure. Integrated Pre-5G solutions support 5G network functionality, structure, and business applications by building a complete 5G network.
ZTE's 5G Flexhaul solution has not only passed backhaul and fronthaul tests in carrier networks, but also showcases ultra-high latency and ultra-low latency, as well as TITAN. TITAN is a centralized routing and signaling platform that provides 5G fronthaul and FMC (fixed-mobile convergence) and fully supports network relocation at the access layer.
ZTE is showcasing 5G cloud infrastructure, cloud networks and services, and cloud-supported business solutions at MWC 2018. Along with carrier-grade basic computing platforms, ZTE’s SDN-based IP + optical vPIPE solution, which includes various business applications, was also announced at this year’s MWC.
In addition, ZTE’s network information solutions, which combine artificial intelligence and big data with core businesses including video and IoT, support telecommunications companies in conducting successful business in the 5G era.
ZTE's IoT 'Chip, Network, Cloud' strategy, based on its IoT solution operations, is expected to be implemented soon on the international platform of the telecommunications solution provider.
At MWC 2018 this year, ZTE’s mobile device business unit announced the ZTE 1.2Gbps smartphone and plans to launch 5G mobile devices in late 2018 or early 2019. In addition, 5G tablets, CPEs, and smartphones are also under development and are scheduled to be released in the future as major carriers around the world provide 5G services to consumers.
