Samsung SDS-EY Han Young Join Hands to Innovate Business-to-Business Transactions in Manufacturing/Logistics/Finance
Published2018.05.03 16:15Samsung SDS has decided to strengthen its blockchain business that innovates transactions between companies in the manufacturing/logistics/finance sectors by forming a strategic partnership with global accounting/consulting firm EY Han Young.
EY is a global leader in blockchain consulting, and is leading the way in corporate business innovation through the use of blockchain to advance SCM (supply chain management)/ERP (enterprise resource planning) systems and MES (manufacturing execution system) combined with IoT.
Samsung SDS was able to expand its blockchain business to include corporate core operating systems by combining its experience in applying its enterprise blockchain platform, Nexledger, to the finance/manufacturing/public sectors for the first time in Korea with EY’s blockchain consulting capabilities.
Through this agreement, Samsung SDS and EY have agreed to jointly explore and collaborate on blockchain business opportunities and also plan to actively exchange information on the blockchain market and global technology trends.
Applying blockchain to business-to-business transactions in the manufacturing, logistics, and financial sectors can improve the reliability of data exchanged between business participants (partners, associates, customers, etc.), thereby enhancing work efficiency and transaction transparency.
Paul Brody, EY’s Global Blockchain Business Leader, said, “We expect business synergy to result from the combination of Samsung SDS’s manufacturing and logistics sector system construction and operation capabilities and blockchain platform (Nexledger) with EY’s blockchain consulting capabilities.”
Samsung SDS’s Im Su-hyeon, head of strategic planning (executive director), said, “EYHe emphasized, “The cooperation with Sawa will serve as an opportunity to enhance the competitiveness of Samsung SDS’s blockchain business and expand its blockchain business globally.”

Samsung SDS announced that it is expanding its smart logistics business by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain into its logistics platform "Cello." The solutions introduced by Samsung SDS on this occasion are Cello BPO, Cello PLUS, and Cello SQUARE. Cello BPO, which adds consulting and demand/supply planning SCM (supply chain management) optimization functions to the traditional third-party logistics system, is a 4PL service. Cello SQUARE, an e-commerce service targeting small and medium-sized enterprises, is scheduled to conduct a pilot opening of version 3.0 this month and plans to launch the service in June.

Samsung SDS Accelerates Growth by Expanding Strategic Businesses and Discovering New Businesses
삼성SDS는 제33기 정기 주주총회를 개최하고, 지난해 매출액 9조 2,992억원, 영업이익 7,316억원을 포함한 재무제표를 승인했다. 삼성SDS는 이사 선임과 정관 일부 변경, 이사 보수한도액, 배당금에 대한 안건도 각각 통과시켰다. 특히, 배당금은 전년도 750원보다 167% 증가한 주당 2,000원으로 상향되었다. 홍원표 대표는 주주총회 인사말에서“올해 경영방침을‘혁신과 시너지, 플랫폼과 성장’으로 정하고 이를 통해 회사의 체질과 경영 프로세스를 근본적으로 바꾸고, 회사의 모든 경영활동이 거듭나도록 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Samsung SDS Q1 Revenue Driven by Cloud and Smart Factory Businesses
Samsung SDS announced through a provisional earnings disclosure that it recorded sales of 2.3569 trillion won and operating profit of 181.8 billion won for the first quarter of 2018. This represents increases of 10% in sales and 24% in operating profit compared to the same period of the previous year. By business division, IT services sales reached 1.3457 trillion won, up 10.2% compared to the same period of the previous year, driven by favorable performance in cloud business and expansion of solution business including smart factory.

IBM Blockchain World Wire… Real-time global financial payment network expands to over 50 countries worldwide
IBM이 19일, 금융기관을 위한 실시간 글로벌 금융결제 네트워크인 IBM 블록체인 월드 와이어의 확대를 발표했다. 월드 와이어는 외환 거래 및 국가 간 결제와 송금 속도를 높이고 최적화할 목적으로 개발됐다. 또한, 결제 메시지 발송, 청산, 정산 절차를 단일 네트워크로 통합하는 동시에 네트워크 참가자들이 정산을 위해 다양한 유형의 디지털 자산을 선택할 수 있도록 지원한다. 19일부터 전 세계 47개 통화와 44개 금융 엔드 포인트를 포함해 72개국으로 결제 가능 지역을 확대한다. 부산은행은 국내 은행 최초로 월드 와이어에 합류했다.
