The Korea-Africa Economic Cooperation Conference and the AfDB Annual Meeting were held at BEXCO.

KT announced that it introduced cases of economic cooperation with Africa and proposed the promotion of ICT industrialization at the Korea-Africa Economic Cooperation Conference (KOAFEC) and the African Development Bank (AfDB) Annual Meeting, held at BEXCO in Haeundae-gu, Busan from the 21st to the 25th.

KT introduced its current business status in Africa and successful case studies of public-private partnership models at the KOAFEC Public-Private Partnership Forum held on the 24th. Kim Hyung-joon, Executive Vice President and Head of KT's Global Business Group, who participated as a panelist at the forum, presented the case of KT building Africa's first nationwide 4G LTE network in collaboration with the Rwandan government, emphasizing the importance of establishing ICT infrastructure for Africa's economic development.

The KOAFEC Public-Private Partnership Forum is an event organized to discuss cooperation measures between Korea and African countries for the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the establishment of smart infrastructure in Africa. Mr. Sergio Pimenta, Vice President of the International Finance Corporation, and Jang Young-hoon, Vice President of the Export-Import Bank of Korea, participated as panelists and exchanged various opinions.

Prior to this, at the KOAFEC Development Concert held on the 22nd at the outdoor stage of the Busan Cinema Center in Haeundae-gu, there was also a session to share experiences and success factors regarding KT's business in Africa. An employee who has been active locally since the early days of KT's entry into the African market vividly introduced the process of expanding into the African continent, including Rwanda. In addition, at the 'ICT Business Briefing' hosted by the AfDB on the 23rd, a public-private partnership business model for building a nationwide public LTE network in Africa was presented, receiving high interest from the attendees.

KOAFEC, hosted by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Export-Import Bank of Korea, and the African Development Bank, is the largest economic cooperation event related to Africa held in Korea. Major events include a ministerial-level roundtable and a public-private partnership forum. KT engaged with key figures from African countries at the forum. The AfDB is an organization established in 1964 to promote Africa's economy and development, and Korea joined in 1982, strengthening mutual cooperation with African nations.

“At the KOAFEC and AfDB Annual Meetings held in Busan, we exchanged views on public-private partnership projects with key figures from African countries through cooperation with the Export-Import Bank of Korea,” said Kim Hyung-joon, Executive Vice President and Head of KT’s Global Business Group. “Based on the experience accumulated in Rwanda, KT will actively support African countries in pursuing ICT-based economic development.”
