Major automakers use BlackBerry QNX vehicle control software.
Control of key advanced vehicle systems, including driver assistance and infotainment


BlackBerry Limited (CEO: John S. Chen) announced that BlackBerry QNX software is now installed in more than 120 million vehicles worldwide.

BlackBerry's QNX technology is currently used in advanced driver assistance systems, digital instrument clusters, connectivity modules, hands-free systems, and infotainment systems by automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers, including Audi, BMW, Ford, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Toyota, and Volkswagen.
“Three years ago, only 60 million vehicles had BlackBerry QNX technology,” said John Chen, Chairman and CEO of BlackBerry. “The number of vehicles equipped with BlackBerry QNX technology has more than doubled in the past three years, as leading automakers, Tier 1 suppliers, and chipmakers around the world have come to recognize and trust BlackBerry’s technology,” he said.

“As the number of software-controlled vehicles increases, BlackBerry’s customers and partners will have access to a safety-certified and secure technology platform that can build the future of the automotive industry using BlackBerry QNX technology,” Chen added.

BlackBerry QNX technologies consist of six components: QNX Neutrino OS, QNX Platform for ADAS, QNX OS for Safety, QNX CAR Platform for Infotainment, QNX Hypervisor 2.0, and QNX acoustics middleware.

BlackBerry has achieved ASIL D, the highest level of automotive functional safety, based on decades of experience in mission-critical embedded systems for automotive and other industries, according to the industry standard ISO 26262.
