Smart City Agreement with the Primorsky Krai Regional Government of Russia
Partnering with local companies to target the digital healthcare market


KT is entering the Russian B2G and B2B markets through agreements with the Russian government and companies.


B2G; Primorsky Krai, the starting point of the ICT Silk Road
KT announced on the 12th that it signed a 'Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation in Building a Smart City' with the Primorsky Krai government in Vladivostok, Russia, on the 11th (local time).

Key officials, including KT President Koo Hyun-mo, Head of Management Planning, and Andrey Tarasenko, Governor of Primorsky Krai, Russia, attended the signing ceremony held at the Far Eastern Federal University campus in Vladivostok, Russia.
KT and the Primorsky Krai Regional Government of Russia have agreed to cooperate on various sectors of KT's smart city business, including energy, security, transportation, safety, and smart farming. Following the signing of the MOU, KT and the Russian regional government plan to select specific areas for cooperation by forming a dedicated smart city task force.

Based on its years of experience in building smart cities, KT plans to take the lead in constructing a smart city optimized for Primorsky Krai. Through comprehensive business cooperation with the Primorsky Krai government, KT intends to identify potential areas for technology exchange and the application of public projects for urban development. In addition, we plan to strengthen international cooperative relations through joint work with the Primorsky Krai government on smart city construction and further disseminate KT's ICT technology to the Eurasian market.

BTB; Solidifying Foundation with Digital Healthcare
KT and Ascend Care Limited, a digital healthcare company specializing in Russia and Europe, signed a business agreement to enter the Russian digital healthcare business at the Lotte Hotel in Vladivostok, Russia, where the 4th Eastern Economic Forum is being held from the 11th to the 13th.
Through this business agreement, the two companies agreed to start market research with the goal of jointly entering the Russian digital healthcare market in 2019. To this end, KT will provide mobile health diagnostic solutions integrated with ICT technology and support local marketing, while AscendCare plans to establish Russian government certification, sales, and after-sales service channels for KT's digital healthcare solutions.

KT CEO Ku Hyeon-mo expressed his aspirations, stating, “As a result of our efforts with government agencies, medical institutions, and solution partners to enter the Eurasian market, we have secured an opportunity to supply digital healthcare to Russia, the leading power in Eurasia and home to the largest market.” He added, “Based on this MOU, KT will further accelerate its expansion into Eurasia beyond Russia.”
