Microchip Technology announced that through a partnership with Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS), it is able to provide customers with a complete PCAP (projected-capacitive) touch and 3D gesture interface module, thereby shortening development time and lowering costs.

With this module, customers can design multi-touch and 3D gesture displays much more easily using Microchip’s award-winning GestIC® technology, which extends the hand tracking range from the display surface up to 20 centimeters.

Hand gesture recognition is universal, hygienic, and easy to learn. It also enhances safety by reducing the need for precise hand-eye coordination.

GestIC technology developed by Microchip can be immediately combined and utilized with multi-touch PCAP controllers. GestIC technology is the most cost-effective among currently commercially available 3D gesture technologies. Additionally, GestIC sensors utilize standard materials and manufacturing techniques, such as indium tin oxide (ITO), metal mesh, and conductive ink that can be printed on glass or foil.

The new module released by SiS is the world's first to combine 2D PCAP and 3D gesture technology to provide a complete display solution. SiS has accumulated over 30 years of experience and expertise in PC chipset products, eMMC, eMCP, and PCAP touch solutions. Using this module can shorten time-to-market for various types of designs, such as in the automotive and consumer sectors.
