Linear Technology Korea (CEO Hong Sa-kwak) announced the release of a step-down DC/DC µModule (power module) regulator (product name: LTM8064) equipped with a control function that provides an input voltage range of 6V to 58V (60Vmax) and regulates load current with ±10% accuracy at 7A.

The LTM8064 can be used as a PoL step-down regulator and operates on 24V, 36V, and 48V voltage rails used in communication infrastructure, high-end computers, test equipment, automobiles, aviation, and various industrial equipment.
In addition, the LTM8064 operates as a constant current source that precisely regulates and manages load currents up to 7A when sourcing and 9.1A when sinking. This product can be used in applications requiring precise load current control. Such applications include Peltier devices for cooling and heating, battery and supercapacitor chargers, LED and laser drives, and motor and fan controllers.

The LTM8064 is available in a 16mm x 11.9mm x 4.92mm BGA package and includes a DC/DC controller, MOSFET, inductor, and supporting components. Therefore, the design is completed with only two resistors, a bulk input capacitor, and an output capacitor.

The LTM8064 provides an adjustable output voltage range of 1.2V to 36V. The switching frequency can be adjusted from 100 kHz to 1 MHz through a single external register and can be synchronized with an external clock in the range of 120 kHz to 1 MHz.

The LTM8064 can operate in a range of -40°C to 125°C. It is priced at $16.50 per unit based on a quantity of 1,000.
