KT has commercialized the world's first software-based network infrastructure (hereinafter T-SDN) nationwide and declared the successful completion of its application on the 27th. T-SDN is a 'software-based network infrastructure' technology that enables dedicated line services to be activated approximately 100 times faster than before.
KT announced that it completed the initial development of T-SDN in October 2015 and applied it to its nationwide network in January 2016. It further stated that commercial application was completed on the 27th following a two-month period of stability and reliability verification.

With the commercialization of T-SDN completed, KT is expected to lead true software-based infrastructure innovation by freely providing customers with virtual networks on demand, offering them the time and bandwidth they desire.
Previously, a large workforce had to manually perform tasks to configure lines from Seoul to regional areas, but with this commercialization, it is now possible to immediately design the optimal path to meet customer requirements and easily configure a dedicated broadband network with just one click. In addition, network operating costs are reduced by more than 30% compared to the existing system.
Lee Dong-myeon, Director of KT Convergence Technology Institute, stated, “While existing operators such as Telefónica, China Telecom, and SK Telecom are proceeding at the pilot project level, KT has commercially applied T-SDN to its entire currently operating transmission network for the first time in the world,” adding, “We will be able to respond more quickly to the ICT demands of corporate customers in the future.”
