KT Opens AI Tech Center to Lead Artificial Intelligence Research

KT held an opening ceremony for the 'AI Tech Center' at the KT Convergence Technology Institute on the 6th.
The 'AI Tech Center' is an open AI development platform built by KT based on the nation's top-tier AI development infrastructure, including supercomputers, to lead the AI market. It will serve as KT's AI hub, leading the intelligentization of media, networks, and platforms for KT and its partners.
The research space of the AI Tech Center consists of an 'AI Craft Shop' for research and collaboration on artificial intelligence technology using KT's AI infrastructure, an 'Experience Space' for benchmarking domestic and international devices and services, an 'Academy Lounge' for AI education, and a 'Voice Performance Evaluation Room' for voice recording and testing, thereby enhancing the AI research and development capabilities of KT and its partners and supporting the development of AI services.
Among these, the 'AI Craft Shop' was largely composed of the 'Eco Craft Shop' and the 'Deep Learning Craft Shop'. The Eco Craft Shop is a space where partner businesses can develop services using the GiGA Genie service SDK, voice/conversation/video SDK, etc., and the Deep Learning Craft Shop is a space where AI engine algorithms are researched and performance is improved based on AI infrastructure to foster mutual growth with partner companies.
In addition, KT has established a 'GPU Computing Cluster' at its AI Tech Center to provide a top-tier deep learning infrastructure. Computational power capable of processing massive amounts of data is essential for artificial intelligence and deep learning research, and the 'GPU Computing Cluster' at KT's AI Tech Center consists of 720,000 GPU cores, boasting the highest level of GPU computing power in the domestic industry dedicated solely to AI research.
Kim Jin-han, Senior Vice President and Head of the AI Tech Center at KT Convergence Technology Institute, said, “We will ensure that the KT AI Tech Center becomes an advanced base for new AI services and research to lead domestic and international AI technology,” adding, “Going forward, through the AI Tech Center, we will accelerate the intelligence of GiGA Genie and contribute to the intelligence of KT’s platform business.”

KT는 BC카드와 손잡고 차세대 보안 기술로 평가 받는 블록체인을 활용해 전자서명 이미지(ESC) 관리 시스템을 자체 개발했다.

KT Secures 5G Coverage on Ski Jump
KT announced that it successfully completed field testing of a "5G WTTx (Wireless To The x)" solution that secured gigabit internet coverage using 5G at the top of the ski jump at Alpensia Sports Park, where the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics were held. WTTx is a solution that replaces sections where information is transmitted via optical cables with wireless transmission. It has the advantage of being able to provide wireless speeds at gigabit internet levels even in locations and environments where infrastructure construction is difficult.

ESS는 DR(Demand Response, 수요반응 자원)과 융합하면 DR자원 추가등록 및 전력 피크요금을 절감할 수 있고, 태양광 발전 등 신재생 발전과 연계할 경우 안정적인 전원 공급 및 REC(Renewable Energy Certificate) 판매 수익을 극대화 할 수 있다. 또한 공장, 공공기관 등 전기 사용량이 많은 건물은 기본요금 및 사용량 요금을 절감할 수 있다. KT 융합형 ESS의 최대 강점은 자체 개발한 에너지 최적운영 관리 시스템(EMS, Energy Management System)이다. KT EMS는 피크제어, 신재생 에너지 안정화, 주파수 조정 등의 기능을 표준화해 고객의 용도에 맞게 사용할 수 있으며, 한 개의 EMS 시스템에 태양광, 풍력, 디젤발전기 등 여러 개의 발전원과 각종 기기들을 동시에 병렬 연결해 통합 운영할 수 있어 고객 맞춤형 ESS 컨설팅 및 종합 솔루션 제공이 가능하다.
