KT and LGU+ Launch Search Service 'Place' Together with Samsung Electronics
Search information on 4.5 million major stores nationwide based on BC Card payment data

KT, LG Uplus, and Samsung Electronics announced the launch of 'Place,' a service that allows users to search for information on major stores nationwide on their smartphones without installing a separate app.

'Place' is a service that allows customers to search for various store information they need in their daily lives, such as pharmacies, restaurants, and laundromats, through a mobile phone app. It provides phone numbers, addresses, and maps for approximately 4.5 million major stores nationwide, and utilizes BC Card payment history to select and guide customers to the stores they frequently visit.

As a result, customers using 'Place' are expected to find it easier to locate specific nearby shops or make advance contacts and reservations. For example, if you enter "pharmacy" into the search bar, a list of pharmacies is displayed in order of proximity to the user's current location, and selecting a desired location allows for phone calls and map viewing. You can also receive immediate directions by touching the navigation service icon, 'OneNavi'.



Places is available to customers using LG Uplus and KT Galaxy S8/S8+ models upon the manufacturer update (Oreo OS). It adds a Places tab to the phone app, alongside Recent Calls and Contacts. Customers can use the service after agreeing to the terms in the default phone app, and 'Place' is scheduled to be pre-installed on major Samsung Electronics flagship devices for KT and LG Uplus in the future.

Kim Hak-jun, Senior Vice President of Platform Service Planning at KT, stated, “Through the Place service, KT customers will be able to use KT’s GIS services, such as maps and navigation, even more conveniently,” adding, “Both companies will continue to cooperate to provide various convenient services that are helpful in customers’ daily lives.”

Han Young-jin, Head of Mobile Services at LG Uplus, stated, “We will ensure that Place becomes an essential service that makes customers’ lives more convenient,” adding, “We will explore various directions for evolution to enable customers to actively utilize the service.”
