Emphasis on energy management and automation during the Fourth Industrial Revolution

Schneider Electric successfully concluded the 'Innovation Summit Seoul 2018' held at the Yongsan Dragon City Hotel in Seoul on May 29th.
Schneider Electric officials reported that the event, themed 'Powering and Digitizing the Economy,' was attended by approximately 2,000 domestic and international IT and industry professionals and experts, and that approximately 500 people pre-registered for the online live broadcast, which was live-streamed through the Schneider Electric Facebook channel.

Schneider Electric shared its innovative technology strategy for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, where the energy paradigm shift and digital technology are impacting all industries. In particular, it presented the direction of domestic industries through digital technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, and virtual reality, and proposed an open platform solution optimized for the digital transformation of companies.
In particular, the latest versions of 'EcoStruxure Power' and 'EcoStruxure Building', which are part of Schneider Electric's integrated architecture platform, 'EcoStruxure™', were also unveiled.

In his keynote address, Philippe Delorme, Vice President and CEO of Schneider Electric, emphasized, "64% of global business executives believe that failure to achieve digital transformation will impact their companies' survival. Furthermore, the IoT market is currently growing at an average annual rate of 24%, and 45% of Schneider Electric's revenue already comes from IoT."

At the meeting, Kim Kyung-rok, CEO of Schneider Electric Korea, shared the latest features of EcoStruxure and customer case studies from various industries, including IKEA, Eunpyeong St. Mary's Hospital, Samsung SDI, and Heung-A Giyeon. He emphasized that Schneider Electric develops technologies aimed at the sustainability of businesses and humanity, supporting energy management and process automation in all power-using industries, which can improve energy efficiency by an average of 30% and up to 65%.

This summit also included a session where industry experts explored industrial strategies and global market trends through the lens of the Industrial Internet of Things. Song Byeong-hun, Director of the Public-Private Joint Smart Factory Promotion Team, Jang Hong-seong, Director of SK Telecom's Technology Research Center, Choi Yoon-seok, Executive Vice President of Microsoft, and Chae Kyo-moon, Head of Headquarters at Schneider Electric, held a discussion session titled "Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) - The Future of IT and OT Convergence." The discussion explored the convergence of IT and OT from the perspectives of the manufacturing, telecommunications, and IT industries, as well as the need to build digital ecosystems for each industry.

Additionally, around 20 in-depth analysis sessions were held, featuring domestic and international internal experts and customers, showcasing Schneider Electric's solutions and successful cases. Organized into four tracks—"EcoStruxure Building," "EcoStruxure IT," "EcoStruxure Machine," and "EcoStruxure Plant"—the event provided an in-depth look at technology platforms for energy savings, operational and facility efficiency, and increased stability across a wide range of fields, including buildings, data centers, and industrial sites. Representatives from major companies and organizations, including DreamTech, Hana Kiyeon, Heung-A Kiyeon, and the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information, attended the event to showcase their partnerships with Schneider Electric.

An exhibition and experience zone, specifically the "Innovation Hub," was also set up, offering hands-on experience with Schneider Electric's solutions. Around 40 demo booths showcased augmented and virtual reality solutions like EcoStruxure Augmented Operator and EcoStruxure VR, along with detailed hands-on experiences with Foxboro DCS, Triconex, and Tricon CX, all related to process automation and safety.
