한국전자통신연구원(ETRI) 이형석 책임연구원은 지난 9월9일 개최된 ‘2025 e4ds Tech Day’ 행사에서 ‘GaN 와이드 밴드갭 전력반도체 기술 개발 현황 및 시장 동향’에 대해 발표하며, GaN 전력 반도체의 개발 현황과 향후 전망을 심도 있게 소개했다. 이형석 연구원은 “GaN은 후발주자지만 기술적 한계를 극복하며 빠르게 발전하고 있다”며 “리모트 에피 등 차세대 기술을 통해 전력 반도체의 새로운 지평을 열 수 있을 것”이라고 전망했다.

ON Semi Achieves High Voltage and High Efficiency with GaN-on-GaN Technology
지능형 전력 및 센싱 기술 선도 기업 온세미가 차세대 전력반도체 기술인 버티컬 질화갈륨(vGaN)을 공개했다. 이번 신제품은 AI 데이터센터, 전기차, 재생에너지 등 전력 집약적 산업의 수요 급증에 대응하기 위해 개발된 것으로, 독자적인 GaN-on-GaN 구조를 적용해 고전압에서도 전류를 수직으로 전달, 빠른 스위칭과 소형화를 동시에 구현한다.

Park So-hee, a student in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Dankook University's College of Engineering, said, "'STEM your way' is nurturing my dream as an STM32-based embedded developer."
Global semiconductor company STMicroelectronics (hereinafter ST) conducted the STEM your way program at Dankook University's Jukjeon Campus on the 3rd. The participating students directly examined SiC power semiconductors and IGBT modules, and gained significant outcomes by conducting hands-on training on STM32-based embedded development with field engineers. In particular, they were able to systematically understand the operating principles of MCUs and the hardware sequence configuration process from start to finish, and the engineers' sharing of their experience in actual product development enhanced confidence in the hands-on training. Additionally, the fact that global semiconductor company ST actively supports the development of female engineers had a positive impact on career path selection. Accordingly, we met with Park So-hee, a student from the Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering at Dankook University's College of Engineering who participated in this event, to hear about her impressions of participating in the STEM your way program.
