Powerful ADS SI, PI Solutions Announced
Cohesive new ADS workflow

Keysight (CEO and President Deok-Kwon Yoon) has launched SIPro and PIPro, electromagnetic (EM) software that signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) engineers can use to enhance high-speed link performance in printed circuit board (PCB) designs. These two solutions can be used with the latest versions of Keysight's Advanced Design System (ADS) software.

SIPro utilizes innovative, new, comprehensive EM technology that ensures accuracy in the high-frequency range, in addition to the speed and capacity required for modern PCB designs with high routing density. Compared to widely used Finite Element Method (FEM) simulations, SIPro demonstrates a high agreement rate while consuming less time and memory, even in regions above 20 GHz.

The PIPro solution consists of three PI-dedicated simulation engines for DC IR drop, AC power distribution network (PDN) impedance, and power plane resonance analysis. The DC IR drop simulator provides DC voltage and current tables for each via, pin, sink, and voltage regulator module on the PDN, enabling SI/PI engineers to predict the DC voltage of IC pins absorbing current.

SIPro and PIPro solutions provide a new analysis environment with a native 3D viewer that allows designers to visually inspect nets before performing simulations and view post-processed, 3D-visualized fields.

Todd Cutler, VP of EEs of EDA at Keysight, said, “Transmitting data at gigabit speeds in the network infrastructure and devices we encounter daily requires overcoming significant design challenges. While it is easy to think that these devices and systems operate automatically, an incredible amount of simulation and analysis is being performed behind the scenes to build reliable links. This ADS release will raise the bar for performance, accuracy, and efficiency in signal and power integrity design simulation and analysis.”

In addition, the PAM-4 simulation feature, introduced for the first time at ADS 2016, allows the use of PAM-4 IBIS-AMI models within the ADS channel simulator. The introduction of this feature will further solidify Keysight EDA's leading position in the field of IBIS-AMI SerDes channel simulation.
